Several Greene County student-athletes will head to Des Moines tomorrow for state track and field.
Greene County High School qualified nine events, which Activities Director Dean Lansman is excited to see how well they do at Drake Stadium.
“Well, it’s a great accomplishment for the kids. They put in a tremendous amount of time, not just during the season but out of season, to get to this point. So when you end up coming out of a district with sixteen teams overall and you end up with nine events going that is just a great accomplishment for the kids and we’re excited to be down there.”
The Rams have four of their nine events happening tomorrow with Megan Durbin in the 100-meter dash and the high jump at 10:40am and 11:30am respectively, while Max Neese will also compete in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes at 10:55am and 1pm respectively. Paton-Churdan’s Megan Carey is the lone qualifier and she will be in the 400-meter run starting at 7pm Thursday evening.
Stay tuned to Raccoon Valley Radio for updates and results from the state track meet.
