The Raccoon Valley Radio Severe Weather Action Team was called into action Monday evening when severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for portions of Dallas and Greene counties.
The first warning was issued around 5:10pm due to wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour and the potential for hail. Dallas County Emergency Management and trained weather spotters reported quarter sized hail near Perry and Minburn, along with pea sized hail in other areas. Heavy rains were also reported with low visibility and pooling water on roadways and fields. Additionally, wind damage was reported, especially south of Perry.
Another warning was issued at 5:42pm for northwest Dallas and southeast Greene counties, it continued until 6:45pm.
Five members of the Raccoon Valley Radio staff came together to provide live, wall-to-wall coverage when the severe storms were in our primary listening area. We were also in touch with WeatherEye meteorologists and the National Weather Service to bring our listeners the most up to the minute information. Several listeners also contacted us with damage reports and photos of what they were experiencing during and after the storms.
As always, you can count on the Raccoon Valley Radio Network’s Severe Weather Action Team anytime severe weather effects Dallas, Greene or Guthrie counties.
