Greene County Community CenterA popular program returns next week to the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson.

Parks and Recreation Director Vicky Lautner says tumbling classes are filling up for each of their three sections.

Beginning tumbling is an introductory class that focuses on tumbling basics and increasing flexibility for three to six year-olds. The intermediate class is for those ages six and older with more emphasis on floor passes for competition. The advanced class is for anyone ages nine and older to work on floor tumbling skills and you must be able to be an unassisted back bend and pull up to be in the class. All classes will be from June 6th through the 9th and are led by Nicole Friess-Schilling and Jamie Leggitt.

Lautner points out that their tumbling classes offers other opportunities to help out in other areas of life.

“Well I know Jamie (Leggitt) and Nicole (Friess-Schilling) they do a lot of stretching before and after and that’s very important for kids, whether they’re in basketball, softball track, whatever they’re participating in. I think tumbling gives a little basis on that for the kids.”

The beginners class is from 9:30 to 10am, the intermediate class is 10 to 10:45am and the advanced class is from 10:45 to 11:30am. The costs range from $25 to $35 and space is limited. Call or stop by the community center to sign up.
