Greene County hosts North Polk (Alleman) in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference softball tonight on KG98. Air time is around 7:15 p.m. with first pitch set for 7:30 p.m. The teams have nearly identical records with Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams at 6-2 overall and 3-2 in the conference. The Comets are 6-3 this season and 2-2 in the league.

Coach Kennedy expects NP to be aggressive on the bases and to use the bunt more than some teams. Both squads have players who are off to red hot starts at the plate including the Comets’ Rebcca Rimathe at .577 through nine games. Ram senior Carleigh Paup is hitting .560 with freshman Jenna Beyers at .500, freshman Megan Carey .448, and senior Syndey Koch at .417.

Ram pitcher Hannah Promes had strong performances her last four times out, and the coach expects another good night. The junior’s earned run averaged has gone from over seven earned runs per game in her first two contests to just four per game for the season, and less than two earned runs per contest since May 28.
