It was a fatal weekend on Lake Panorama… as a 54 year-old man drowned.
According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call was made at 5:23pm Saturday stating there was a man down in the water at Lake Panorama.
The preliminary investigation shows Barry Blanchfield of Churdan had jumped out of a boat and into the water in an attempt to retrieve a hat.
When first responders arrived Blachfield was unresponsive. Paramedics attempted to revive Blanchfield by performing CPR and later transporting him to the Guthrie County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Responding to the scene were the Panora Fire and Rescue Department, Lake Patrol, State Patrol and the Guthrie County Sheriff’s office.
Investigation on the incident continues, alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the drowning.
