The Panorama Panthers were on a roll again last Friday night as they took on the Des Moines Christian Lions. In a huge 34-0 victory over the Lions, the Panthers improved their record yet again to a strong 4-2. And with what looks like a lighter second half of their season, the Panthers should be on track for continuing to do well in the conference.
In their last three regular-season games the Panthers will be facing West Central Valley at home, Tri-Center in Neola, and Trynor at home. During the 2011-2012 season, the Panthers beat WCV 47-0 and Tri-Center 60-13–promising numbers for head coach Lyle Alumbaugh’s team–especially if Tyler Hein continues to play as well as he has so far this year.
Garrett Mleynek lead the Panthers last Friday with 12 carries for 139 yards and 2 touchdowns. Hein was close behind him with 18 carries for 92 yards and 2 touchdowns. Luke Webner was also an asset carrying the ball for 50 yards on 5 plays. Mason McNeill also had a big 22-yard reception that resulted in a touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, the Panthers were just as strong. Tyler Hein had 3 solo tackles and 9 assisted. Logan Hupp played a big game as usual with 6 assisted tackles. Shane Wingert had 3 solo and assisted tackles. Collin Smith had 4 assisted tackles and Colby Woodvine had 1 solo tackle and 3 assisted tackles.
The Panthers are at home again this Friday as they take on the West Central Valley Wildcats. And if the Panthers continue to practice, prepare, and play like they have in the last three weeks, they should have no problem with WCV.
