Cold, wet, and windy conditions on Thursday forced postponement of nine of the 20 cross-country State Qualifying Meets at sites around the state. All of the postponed meets will be held on Monday, Oct. 22 including the Class 2A meet near Panora at the par-three golf course at Lake Panorama. Greene County, Panorama, West Central Valley, and South Central Calhoun are among the schools involved in that meet. Class 1A and 3A competition at Atlantic was also postponed. Guthrie Center, Earlham, Audubin, and Adair-Casey are among the 1A schools in that meet with Perry, ADM, Dallas Center-Grimes, and Winterset included in the 3A field.

Marshalltown was one of the sites that did run on Thursday and Ogden sophomore Trey Thompson became a boys’ state meet qualifier. Thompson captured the tenth and final spot for 1A individuals. The Bulldogs were seventh in team race while the Ogden girls were tenth as a team. Only the top three teams in each race qualify for the state meet on Oct. 27 north of Ft. Dodge at Kennedy Park.
