Farmland values in Iowa increased by nearly 24% this year.  According to the Land Value Survey, the average Iowa farmland is valued at $8,296 per acre.  This year’s values are the highest in history and 2012 is the third year in a row that values have increased more than 15%.

In Dallas County, land values increased by $1,464 this year to an average of $9,152 per acre.  Greene County values increase more than 19% in 2012 total an average of $9,206 per acre.  And Guthrie County land values increased by more than $1,600 this year to $6,616 per acre.

All three of our Raccoon River Valley counties rank in the higher half of values across the state with 15 of Iowa’s 99 counties having land values less than $6,000 per acre and 24 counties having average values of more than $10,000 per acre.

The survey is based on reports by licensed real estate brokers and selected individuals considered knowledgeable of land market conditions.
