The 2012-13 high school basketball seasons at Greene County High School came to an official end on Thursday night with the annual awards night. The event was held in the high school cafeteria. Coaches on the freshmen, junior varsity, and varsity levels talked about their teams and presented awards.

Cousins Reed Ostrander and Justin Ostrander were named Co-MVP’s of the boys’ team and Jennifer Kennedy was named girls’ MVP. All three are seniors. The Most Improved awards for girls went to sophomores Emily Christensen and Marissa Promes. Also, senior Quinn Flack received the Will to Win award.

Boys’ letter winners in addition to the Ostranders were seniors Tory Beger, Alex Gordon, Ben Most, Matt Paulsen, and Dylan Schilling. Junior lettering were Cody Hidlebaugh and Will Meinecke. Sophomores Landon Braun, Riah Nelsen, and Blake Renwanz also lettered.

Girls’ letter winners in addition to those already mentioned were senior Brittany Gunn, junior Allie Stoline, Abby Bravard, and Thea Ballard, plus sophomores Kayla Mobley, Stacy Mears, Hannah Onken, Jolee Wessling, and Tressa Rasmussen.

Heart of Iowa Activities Conference all-academic honors went to girls’ players Ballard, Bravard, Flack, Gunn, Kennedy, and Stoline. Flack and Kennedy also were named to the Iowa Basketball Coach’s Association Academic All-State team and Flack was also named to the Iowa Girls Coach’s Association Academic All-State team.
