The Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau has announced their next Special Traffic Enforcement Program wave later this month.
Enforcement agencies from all over the state, including the Perry Police Department, will be out in force through 17th, looking for motorists who are violating Iowa traffic laws during the St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
This is just one of five high visibility enforcement waves throughout the year that aim to get motorists to change their driving behavior by buckling up, slowing down, driving sober and obeying all traffic laws in order to reduce the number of traffic crashes and related deaths.
During the St. Patrick’s Day sTEP wave last year, there were 16,279 traffic violations reported by the 234 participating law enforcement agencies.
The next wave will take place during the Memorial Day holiday.
