The ADM girls and boys golf teams return firepower from last year’s incredible seasons.

Head coach Cris Goodale says the boys team went 30-5 last year and will have to replace three of the six varsity spots this season.  The girls team qualified for state last year which was a surprise considering the year before the team lost four of its six players and still went to state.  They finished with a 36-5 record last year and return four of six spots this season.

Despite unfavorable practicing elements outside, coach Goodale notes that practicing indoors has its advantages and the kids are learning how to be patient.

“The kids are handling it pretty well and like I said with the new kids this is really good to start out in the gym the short game and we got some full swings in.  But it’s just a building process and the kids they are really understanding.  They’re antsy to get out onto the course like everybody else, but the weather has not been cooperative.”

He believes that the regular season is just a long practice leading up to the postseason in May.  Coach Goodale points out that over the course of the last couple of seasons, his teams seem to peak at the right time of the year during postseason tournament play.

With the cancellation of the first golf meet for the girls on Monday, they will open their season on Tuesday, April 2nd at Pella Christian.  The boys will begin their season at home on Thursday, April 4th.
