The Stuart Police Department has been quite busy this past week, with responses to multiple occurrences around the city. One of those taking place at the historic Saints Center, located at 320 N. Fremont St.

There were reports of a suspicious device that had been placed, and found near the front door. With some assistance from the Iowa State Fire Marshall’s Office, they investigated the device, secured and transported it to an isolated location.

At this location the device was examined and thought of as being safe. It has been sent the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation for further testing.

Stuart Police Chief David Reha, has his thoughts of why it was placed, CUT with the recent tragedy in Boston, you can never be too safe, and the Stuart Police Department has said charges will be filed if a suspect is found, since this is such a serious incident
