The Perry boys and girls track teams will head to Winterset tonight for a 3A State Qualifying Track Meet. The Bluejays are coming off a second place finish at the Raccoon River Conference meet and look to keep the momentum rolling tonight. “We are going all in, stated RRC Coach of the Year Cody Eichmeyer, “I really believe we could get anywhere from 6 to 8 events qualified for state. Its going to be an exciting night!”
The Bluejays are hoping to get Will Whiton and Ben Daniels to secure spots in the long jump, Walter Juarez in the Discus, and Whiton in both the 100 and 200. Atem Akook will anchor a couple of relays and compete in the open 800, an event he won at the Raccoon River Conference meet in Grimes. Perry could secure 3 relays as well with the 4×400 representing the wild card.
The top 2 place winners advance to state in each event with the next best 8 across the state receiving wild cards.
