The Jefferson City Council will meet in a special session tomorrow afternoon.
The Council will hold a public hearing in regards to the development agreement with Hy-Vee, Incorporated and will then consider approving the agreement following the hearing.
City Administrator Mike Palmer talks about why there needs to be a public hearing and the highlights of the development agreement.
“In order to make everything legal to pass this development agreement, we have to have a public hearing. And that development agreement is essentially just the financial incentives to bring them (Hy-Vee) here.”
Finally, the Council will consider the third and final reading for the ordinance to vacate part of Adams Street and the alley in Block 6 by the extension office for Hy-Vee to build a parking lot.
The special meeting takes place at 4pm at the Jefferson City Hall Council Chambers.
