halloween1A reminder to local residents, as you start to gear up for the many Halloween festivities throughout Guthrie County this weekend, there is also an event that your pets will enjoy.

The Panora P.E.T.S. Animal Shelter’s “Howloween” annual fundraiser is tomorrow on Panora’s main square at 11am.  Organizer Mindy Kurtz says it is the shelter’s biggest fundraiser of the year and she encourages local residents to bring out pets in their best Halloween costumes.

There will be a costume contest for small and large breed pets, a goodie-bag raffle and a photography session for owners and their pets.  For those who get hungry there will be a $5 chili lunch served as well.

Another activity has also been added to the slate–Pretty Paws Dog Grooming from Guthrie Center will be there for pet nail trimming.

P.E.T.S. will have dogs and cats available for adoption, and interested owners can also have their pets microchipped for $15.

A reminder to those planning to attend, dogs must be up-to-date with vaccinations and on a leash at all times.

All funds raised will go directly to the P.E.T.S. organization.  Anyone with questions about the event can call the shelter at 641-757-9570.
