Greene County head cross-country coach Kelly Simpson told Raccoon Valley Radio senior Allison Higgins and junior Landon Braun were the MVPs of the girls and boys team, respectively. Both also were named the top runners for average time per race.

The girls were ninth in Class 2A at the Nov. 2 State Meet north of Ft. Dodge with Higgins leading the way with a third place individual finish. Higgins ran the four kilometers in 15:04.70, a new school record for this distance. She finished 52nd at the 2012 State Meet at the same location.

Most improved weer Noelle Gray and Logan Egeland wile Olivia Hansen, Anthony Cunningham, and Ethan Woodruff were named improved newcomers. Todd & Shannon Hansen received the Team Award and Captain’s pins were awarded to Higgins, Kate Sandage, Emily Vander Wilt, Jacob Challen, and Karter Ruzicka.

The coach was pleased with the season and the improvement all the runners showed from August to November.
