The ADM cross country teams held their annual banquet this past Monday to recap the 2013 season.
22 runners between the boys and girls’ teams were named varsity letterwinners, and 13 others received participation awards.
The Tigers’ top girls and boys runners–Brianna Mueller and Josh Berger–were both named All-Conference runners and the MVPs of their respective teams. Berger was also named to the Academic All-State team by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches.
On the girls’ side, Lizzie Larkin won the team’s Most Improved Award, Danielle James took home Ms. Consistency and the Harrier Award, and Hannah Taylor was named the Harrier of Character. Head coach David Zwank uses the term harrier to “describe the runner that demonstrates grittiness and determination” throughout the season.
Over on the boys’ team, Kyle Ferguson garnered the team’s Most Improved Award, while Ben Geadelmann won the Harrier Award and Scott Clabough reeled in Mr. Consistency. Mark Sinnwell was named the Harrier of Character.
The boys and girls’ teams were also highlighted for their academic achievement. Both teams sported combined GPAs of over a 3.0 during the season.
