volleyballWe told you here on the Raccoon Valley Radio Network yesterday that ADM volleyball star Torrie Hook was recently named a 2nd-Team All-State honoree by the Des Moines Register for her outstanding season this year.

While it took a lot of personal hard work during her four-year career to reach such a high-caliber level, Hook says that’s not the only reason she capped off her career with such a standout season.

She gives a lot of credit to her head coach, Mary Beth Scott, too.

“I mean I’ve known (Coach Scott) forever.  She’s not afraid to tell me what she thinks.  I can always come talk to her, even if it’s not about volleyball I can come talk to her about anything.  When I need to do something for volleyball, she’s not afraid to tell me.  She just puts it all out there, and I just look up to her so much as a role model… she’s awesome.”

With Hook’s high school playing days behind her, the next question that she has to answer: what’s next?

Hook will run track in the spring for ADM, but as for volleyball, she says she hasn’t decided if she’ll play it at the collegiate level, though that is under consideration.

“I really like Central a lot and I like Pella.  So, I’ve been talking to them and I might go on a couple of visits and see what it’s like there.”

Hook adds that prior to this season, she was set on going to college and not playing volleyball, but with Coach Scott urging her to pursue a college career and an All-State recognition now in her back pocket, she’s been forced to reexamine that stance.
