As the busy holiday season continues, all of us have several things on our minds but some have more hard hitting issues at hand.

Linda Carpenter with Visiting Nurse Services of Iowa says if you have a loved one that is in need of care, this is a great time to talk to them about their options.

“People don’t want to admit that they can’t take care of themselves and they’re afraid that they’re going to lose their independence but actually this allows them to be more independent than if they were to go into some kind of facility” says Carpenter.

Katie McIntyre with HCI Care Services agrees, she says getting help can make the holidays more enjoyable for everyone.

“It also takes a burden off the caregiver.  It lets the caregiver worry about the turkey and then we can come in and help with some of those things like bathing, medication management, physical therapy, those kinds of things to really make a happy holiday for everyone.”
