The ADM wrestlers will take on Nevada and Newton in a triangular dual meet this evening at home. Matches begin at 5:30.
The Tigers fell to Ballard to open their season last week and finished in the middle-of-the-pack in the DC-G Mustang Invite this past weekend, but expectations for the season remain high for head coach Justin Schmauss, and he’s confident his team has rid itself of the early season jitters.
Here is Schmauss discussing his outlook for tonight’s matches.
“Obviously I expect us to win. I want us to get that first win of the season and then get the second one to build some momentum. We have a big tournament this weekend, it’s a dual tournament so we’ll have five dual meets again this Saturday so we want to start building for that and getting ready.”
Schmauss says he believes his wrestlers are close to having things click for them on the mat, as they all looked a little rusty in the season’s first week. All in all, there are certainly improvements to be made, especially in finishing takedowns.
Schmauss says his wrestlers have taken the right shots to put themselves in position for takedowns, but the last finish is lacking. We’ll see if they better complete those finishes against Newton and Nevada tonight.
