basketball thru hoopThe ADM girls basketball team made quick and easy work of Carroll last Friday, dismantling the overmatched opposing Tigers by the score of 84 to 8.

Many Carroll fans and even the coaches were upset following the game, feeling as though Coach Brett Watson didn’t do enough to take his team off the proverbial gas pedal with such a big lead.

However, Watson says he didn’t mean any disrespect by the large margin of victory, and he certainly wasn’t trying to run up the score.

“It was just a thing where the girls were playing aggressive, they got steals and I wasn’t going to hold them back at all.  We have been working a lot on our man-to-man defense and so that’s what we ran… I mean I’m not a coach that is going to sit back in a 2-3 zone and be lazy with it and develop bad habits, so our girls were still aggressive.  You know those girls at the end of the bench (when they come in) deserve to play hard and have opportunities to score.  The opportunities were there (Friday) and that’s what happened.”

With their win Friday, the Tigers moved to 3-2 on the season and more importantly, 2-0 in Raccoon River Conference play.  ADM will face another conference foe on Friday in the form of the Ballard Bombers.

Ballard will undoubtedly be another great test for Watson and crew, and the Bombers should enter Friday’s contest ranked in the top-5 in Class 4-A.  They are coming off an impressive 60-48 convincing victory over then-4th ranked Perry at home last Friday.
