Lisa Chiodo is Guthrie County Public Health’s Nurse Administrator no more.

After two years in the position, Chiodo is moving back to the Des Moines area with her family, and while she’s excited for her next step, she admits that she’ll greatly miss the Guthrie County community.

“Even though we’re a small town and a small community, I’m going to miss that challenge and those opportunities to show people that just because we’re small doesn’t mean we’re not mighty… and that we can get out there and take care of our community and do things on a limited budget with the bailing wire and the bumble gum to show people that health is important at all aspects in your life.”

GCPH has gone through some big changes under Chiodo’s guidance over the past two years, but she says she leaves the organization in great hands as it pursues a new Nurse Administrator.

In regard to those changes, Chiodo explains the proudest accomplishment of her two-year tenure.

“I think the most exciting thing was getting everybody on computer charting.  We have the ability at the public health level now to better track who we’re serving and what their needs are, and then we can feed that (information) back to our politicians and our elected officials to let them know that there are still needs in the community.”

Chiodo’s last day with GCPH was technically last Friday, so the organization has officially begun its search for a new leader.

To hear more from Chiodo as she recaps her time with Guthrie County Public Health and says goodbye to the community, tune-in to today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County on K107 during the 9am, noon and 5 o’clock hours.
