ADM’s boys and girls golf teams hit the links Tuesday night, and while the squads didn’t necessarily put forth poor performances, they did experience their first “losses” of the season.
Starting with the ADM boys, the Tigers lost to Winterset by just three shots in a head-to-head dual meet on the road. ADM shot 161 to Winterset’s 158. Tigers’ top golfer Brody Boston finished as meet runner-up with a 3-over par 38.
Over on the girls’ side, ADM lost on the road to the Ballard girls’ team by only three strokes too. The Tigers shot 201 while the Bombers shot a 198.
Despite the tough loss for his girls though, head coach Cris Goodale says he was encouraged by their performance.
“The good thing is the girls played on the course that we’re going to play conference on and it was the first time they’d played it. They learned a lot and hopefully the next time they see it they’ll play it smarter. We started off a little rough and then we came back, and they played pretty tough after that. It just took a little bit to settle in and we’ll have to get over that.”
Coach Goodale’s girls are now off until next Monday, when they travel to Carroll for a head-to-head dual.
The boys, however, are back on the green grass tonight. The Tigers head to Dallas Center-Grimes for a dual meet at Beaver Creek Golf Course. The ADM boys will also compete in an 18-hole invitational tournament on Saturday at Perry Golf & Country Club.
