A Jefferson man was sentenced in Greene County court following a guilty plea.
22 year-old Estavan Espinosa Jones pled guilty to aggravated misdemeanors for a second offense for operating while intoxicated and third degree criminal mischief charges from May 4th.
Jones was accused of eluding a police officer after failure to stop for a traffic violation and after he was placed under arrest, he caused damage to a patrol vehicle and had alcohol in his system.
He was sentenced to seven days in jail for both the OWI and criminal mischief charges. He was ordered to undergo a substance abuse evaluation and take a drinking driver’s course and pay over $4,300 in restitution, fines and court costs.
The State dropped a Class D Felony charge for eluding a law enforcement vehicle and misdemeanors for failure to obey a stop sign, failure to use headlamps when required, interference with official acts and disorderly conduct.
