New Parks and Recreation Director Jeff Lamoureax has only been working in Perry for a little more than an week now but he already has one job to work on… finding a recreation coordinator.

Carson Peterson took over the recreation coordinator position in April but has since left Perry for another job.

City Administrator Butch Niebuhr says Lamoureax explored his options but plans to fill the position.

“He looked at doing some structuring from within, which was a quick thing just meeting his employees and seeing what’s going on but he’s decided he wants to go ahead and fill that position just to keep the ball rolling, getting into fall and the activities going on out there, he just needs the numbers” says Niebuhr.

But so far, Niebuhr says Lamoureax is doing well in the position and hopes he will continue his positive outlook and plans for improvement with the department.
