There are new developments of the Hy-Vee, Incorporated project in Jefferson.
City Administrator Mike Palmer says a building permit has been set up by building inspector Tom Heater and the City is waiting it officially issue the permit to Hy-Vee pending fee payments.
Once the building permit is issued, then Hy-Vee’s crews can begin construction of its 34,250-square foot facility. He adds that footings and a concrete base will be built first and by the first week of September, precast concrete walls will be erected so that crews can work on the inside during the winter months.

Palmer points out that there’s nothing left for Hy-Vee to bring to the Council for approval but that he’s excited to get the project going.
The City spent $358,707 on its water main improvement project in preparation of Hy-Vee’s construction of where it will be located at 106 West Washington Street.
Other plans include 222 parking stalls and 8,150-square foot attached clinic on the west side of the main Hy-Vee facility.
Hy-Vee officials say that they will create 140 full-time and part time jobs along with a full service supermarket with a health market, a bakery and a kitchen.
