All current and prospective Greene County 4-H’ers and their families are invited to a free picnic later this month.
Greene County ISU Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Sarah Jo Reynolds says the youth development committee is sponsoring a 4-H picnic at Spring Lake Park on Saturday, August 30th.
She explains why the youth development committee wanted to host an event like this.
“They decided that we needed one more county event to get the families excited about 4-H and we thought fall was a really good time to have this picnic.”
Along with current and interested 4-H members, Clover Kids participants are also invited to play tailgate games such as bags and ladder ball. Plus, there will be discounted roller skating at the park.
A meal will be served starting at 5pm provided by the Greene County Pork Producers with grilled pork burgers, sides and beverages with the games and skating to be from 6-8pm. Reynolds asks everyone to bring a lawn chair to ensure that you will have a seat at the picnic.
She reminds everyone that enrollment for the 2014-15 4-H year begins on Tuesday, September 2nd.
Pre-registration is requested by Wednesday, August 27th by calling the Extension office in Jefferson at 386-2138.
