Scranton LibraryThe Scranton Public Library has scheduled a grand opening ceremony for this weekend.

Director Ashley Squibb says the new H.F. and Maude Marchant Memorial Library opened its doors earlier this month and they will be having a grand opening ceremony to officially kick-off the new facility on Saturday, September 27th.

She states that the events include a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30am with a speech by the Marchant’s grand daughter Mary Kruse and the great-grand children will be in attendance.  Musician Chad Elliot will provide musical entertainment and pork sandwiches, chips and beverages will be served from 11:30am-1pm.

Frank and Maude Marchant left the library $500,000 in their estate to build a new 3,200-square foot facility that is located one building down from their old location on Main Street.

Construction was done by Badding Construction in Carroll and the project started last fall and was completed in September.
