It’s week six of the high school football season, but for Greene County junior Sico Boateng it’s week one. The linebacker/running back has been on the shelf until this week, but is expected to play tonight vs. eighth ranked Humboldt in the Rams’ Homecoming game at Linduska Field.

Head Coach Dean Lansman said Boateng, a starter at outside linebacker the last six games of the 2013 season, will help on both sides of the ball, as well as special teams. “Sico will provide depth at linebacker and help us there. Dylan (Hamilton) has been starting both ways and been doing a great job. We’ve tried to give him a little rest now and then, but with Sico available, we can keep our leading rusher (Hamilton) a little more fresh. On offense, he’s another back we can go to, especially if we run the “diamond” formation like we did some against Webster City, and he’s a good special teams player, so he’ll definitely help.”

Humboldt is 4-1 overall and 2-1 in Class 3A District 2 with their only loss to fourth ranked and undefeated Carroll. The Rams are 2-3 overall, but 2-0 in district play. Coverage begins on KG98 at 6:45 p.m. with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
