When the football season started in August, the coaching staff and players set several goals for the 2014 season. Qualifying for the Class 3A playoffs after spending the previous four seasons as a 2A program, was among those high in priority. Coach Dean Lansman’s Rams can do just that in Boone on Friday night at Goeppinger Field if they win against the Toreadors. Greene County will clinch a playoff berth with a victory and would still keep hopes alive for a share of the District 2 title. Getting a share of first place is only a possibility if the Rams win on Friday night.

Greene County is 3-4 overall, but 3-1 in district play while Boone is 1-6, 1-3. The Rams have played five games with a final margin of six or fewer points, more than any of the 64 teams in Class 3A, so expecting a close game would be nothing new. Greene County’s victories have been by 15, 3, and 3 points, while the losses have been by 6, 2, 16, and 1 point.

Coverage on KG98 begins at 6:45 p.m. with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
