It’s back to the drawing board for the Dallas County Board of Supervisors after both bond referendums on Tuesday’s ballot failed to get the 60 percent approval needed to pass.
Board of Supervisors Chairman Kim Chapman says fact of the matter is, the issue still hasn’t gone away.
“The County Board of Supervisors will be faced with reviewing its options in adding additional space. The bottom line is space is needed for county government to continue to operate, and operate efficiently and effectively” says Chapman.
According to Chief Deputy and Jail Administrator Doug Lande, voters in Dallas County have never before passed a referendum to build a new jail facility.
