Republican incumbent for Iowa House District 47 Chip Baltimore was recently re-elected to his third term to represent Greene and Boone counties.
Baltimore resides in Boone and began his working career as a lawyer in the private sector for ten years and has been working at Boone Bank and Trust for eight years as general counsel and a trust officer.
He turned to politics in 2010 when he was elected to the Iowa House and has since been dedicated to serving the people of Iowa at the capitol in Des Moines.
Baltimore says he’s grateful that voters have re-elected him to continue to represent them in the Iowa Legislature.
“Little bit of a validation but at the same time its an obligation that I have now for the next two years is to make sure that I keep listening to the people in the district and taking their concerns down to the capitol and working for common sense solutions to get that done. So it really is an honor to be chosen again and represent the good people of District 47.”
Iowa also decided to make history by electing its first-ever woman to the United States Congress with Republican Joni Ernst.
Party Line aside, Baltimore was pleased to see Iowa voters elect a woman to the US Senate. He comments that some people thought it was a “black eye” issue that Iowa and Mississippi were the only states to never have a woman who served in the US Congress.
He adds that Iowans can now get past that ideal and he looks forward to seeing how successful Ernst can be as a US Senator.
