Reed Ostrander of rural Grand Junction is a standout athlete who has chosen to pursue his education and a career in football at Morningside College in Sioux City. Ostrander played football as a receiver the past two seasons in Ft. Dodge at Iowa Central Community College. Prior to that, he played the eight-player game at East Greene, then moved to the 11-player game as a senior with the Greene County Rams. The 2014 season saw the Tritons win the Graphic Edge Bowl, capping a season in which Ostrander was named to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference second team. He was also a team captain for the Tritons, and and all-region academic selection. Former Jefferson-Scranton athlete Mitchell Murphy is an assistant coach at Iowa Central.

Morningside has been a power in football since they switched to the NAIA several years ago. Other area athletes at Morningside are Greene County High School graduates Jacob Simpson and Allison Higgins, who are cross-country and track runners.
