Heading into the 2014-15 high school girls basketball campaign, ADM junior guard Brianna Mueller was expected to be one of a few players to carry the Tigers offensively.

As a sophomore, Mueller averaged 10.3 points per game and her 53 assists were second on the team. She started this season out with a bang, scoring 18 points Nov. 25 against Van Meter. But after that, Mueller’s offensive production was up and down, including a multi-game slump in which her scoring average and shooting percentages dipped considerably.

After posting her third consecutive game in double figures in Tuesday’s loss to Carlisle, it appears Mueller is back to the form that she and her coaches expect to see.

“She went through a slump there for a little bit, but the last couple games she’s played with more confidence, shot the ball,” said Tigers head coach Corey Schneider. “You can tell she’s looking for her shot, not just looking to drive the ball every time, but she’s shooting the ball with confidence.”

There in lies one of the keys for Mueller- driving. She’s always been a gifted driver and finisher, but was too often forcing drives into a crowd. Now, she’s stepping out for midrange shots, and hitting them. In her last three games, Mueller has scored 12, 12 and 16 points. Official shooting stats from Tuesday’s game were not available, but Mueller shot 12-of-26 over the previous two games while coming picking up eight steals.

Mueller and the rest of the Tigers return home tomorrow night for a conference doubleheader against the Bondurant-Farrar Blue Jays, a contest that can be heard on K107 at 6 p.m.
