Though the school year may be winding down, it’s a very busy time for student musicians in Perry.
Vocal music teacher Jenn Nelson says there are several events coming up over the next month, the first being the high school’s spring concert on Monday.
“That will feature our high school symphonic band and then our high school mixed choir and our select choir, as well as our end of the year awards.”
In addition to entertaining the public, Nelson says the concert also serves as a rehearsal before competition.
“All of the music that the symphonic band and the mixed choir are performing at the concert will then be performed again next Friday at the Large Group Festival at Gilbert. So this is kind of a good chance for us to perform those pieces in front of an audience, before we go to Gilbert and are evaluated by judges.”
Monday’s concert takes place in the Perry Performing Arts Center at 7pm. There’s no cost to attend.
We’ll have more with Nelson on today’s Let’s Talk Dallas County during the 9am, noon and 5pm hours on AM 1310 KDLS.
