The Greene County High School softball and baseball teams are both playing on their respective home diamonds in Jefferson tonight albeit against different opponents. The Class 3A fourth ranked softball team plays Saydel (Des Moines) at the City Diamond on East Lincolnway at approximately 7:30 p.m. Coach Tom Kennedy’s team could wrap up the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference title with a win over the Eagles. Saydel and CMB (Maxwell) are both four games behind Greene County in the loss column and after tonight the Rams will have just three conference games remaining.

The baseball Rams host Roland-Story (Story City) at Allensworth Field in a doubleheader after being rained out in Story City on June 12. JV action is slated for 3:15 p.m. with the first varsity game scheduled for 5:15 p.m. and the second varsity game to follow. KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com will broadcast the second game of the varsity doubleheader at approximately 7:30 p.m. Greene County is 13-9 overall and 9-4 in the conference while the Norsemen have a 10-5 league record.
