Now that Labor Day is over, the Mahanay Bell Tower in Jefferson is changing its hours of operation.

Greene County Chamber Tourism and Events Coordinator Angie Pedersen says the Bell Tower will be open from 10am to 4pm on the weekends in September.  But just because the Bell Tower isn’t open everyday anymore, doesn’t mean you can’t still visit it.

“The Bell Tower is always open by appointment, so all you have to do is call the Chamber.  If you’re bringing guests to town and you want to take them up the Bell Tower, we’ll get you up there.  But other than just visiting the Bell Tower, you can rent the top of the Bell Tower, I don’t know if people know that.  We just recently had someone rent it because they’re going to have a romantic anniversary dinner up there.”

Adult admissions are $3 per person and anyone 18 years-old or younger is admitted for free, due to the generosity of the Jefferson Telecom Foundation for the rest of the year.  After September, the Bell Tower will no longer have regular hours.
