The Perry Bluejay football team will finish up the regular season with 2 home games at Dewey Field and despite sitting at 0-7 on the season, the work will continue for both the players and the coaches.  The life of any high school football coach includes a high number of hours away from the football field and actually begins right after a Friday night football game.

Perry Head Coach Jason Olejniczak along with offensive coordinator Matt Hardy both go back to work right after a game on Friday night.  Olejniczak enters the stats from the game right away while Hardy downloads the film into a program called Hudle where it becomes available immediately to players and coaches across the state.  The work continues into Saturday morning and afternoon with the coaches beginning the preparation for the next opponent with film study on their ipad or laptop.  Olejniczak laughed that sometimes the Saturday film study is mixed in with the Iowa or Iowa State game as well.

The coaches come together as a unit on Sunday to begin preliminary game planning and discuss what they have noticed from the Saturday film viewing.  The meeting usually last around 3 hours and as the coaches script up what route they want to go and get the practice week set and scheduled.  The players begin film study on Sunday night as well.

“We have some coaches who really go above and beyond,” stated Olejniczak.  “Both Matt (Hardy) and Shannon Cline spend so much time with the film and getting game plans ready.  All of our coaches work really hard for the kids and try to put the best game plan together for them to enjoy success.”
