Raccoon Valley Radio has started our fourth annual Caring Christmas Food Drive.
General Manager John McGee says the goal of the food drives is to help each of our community’s food pantries.
“It’s about helping people. I mean this time of year, the need is great for food. Through the years, I’ve had food shelves call me and say, ‘Hey, are you guys still planning on doing the Caring Christmas Food Drive?’ because they need the food. I guess you start to realize how much of an impact that really has on people.”
He adds that any food collected in our respective areas, goes directly to that community’s food pantry. The kickoff for Greene County is tomorrow with our first live remote broadcast from Jefferson Hy-Vee from 9 to 11am. People can donate either non-perishable food items or make a monetary donation during that time, and everything will be donated to the Greene County Action Resource Center. You can make a donation anytime at Hy-Vee, Jefferson Fareway, 209 Main Restaurant, Jefferson Telecom or at Community State Bank.
Plus, anytime we are broadcasting live, you can also sign up for a chance to win $1,000 for our Christmas Cash Giveaway. Qualifying entries will be drawn during each remote broadcast and put into a finalist drawing for the cash prize on December 21st.
