greene county medical center logoThe Greene County Medical Center Board of Trustees met yesterday in regular session.

The Board approved two board members, Judy Sankot and Bill Raney to the nomination committee to select next year’s board officers.  The Board also approved the voluntary relinquishment of Dr. James Gerdes from the medical center.  The Board then reviewed last fiscal year’s audit report.

During the financial report, the medical center’s monthly operating revenues for October were $1,987,635 or slightly more than $1,916,177 that was budgeted.  The expenses totaled $2,562,646 last month and were ahead of the budgeted $2,197,462.  The hospital ended up with a loss of $421,437 for October.  The main reason why the medical center was almost $400,000 over for expenses was due to the building improvement project.

The year-to-date operating revenues is at $7,183,001, slightly more than $7,162,897 that was budgeted.  The expenses total $8,877,386 compared to the budgeted amount of $8,718,000.  The hospital is operating at a loss of $1,694,385 for the year.

In October, laboratory services saw it’s highest month of the year for patient visits at 4,661, emergency room visits dropped from September to October with 435 to 345 respectively and occupational therapy also had a drop over the last two months from 208 in September to 150 in October.

Finally, the Board will take action at next month’s meeting about the Iowa Hospital Association’s transparency action plan and principles.
