Perry High SchoolThe Perry School District is looking to improve security measures at their attendance centers.

Superintendent Lynn Ubben says after attending ALICE training, which stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate, they decided it was time to add additional security. Items they are looking at adding include new keyless entries, more cameras and a possible buzzer system.

“I think security is something that becomes more pressing every day.  So we’ll probably seek some help from some engineers and it will be a large project because we’d like to do all of the buildings.  I’ve visited some buildings and I had a Superintendents conference and Boone had redone their high school so I got to look at their security system and many of course are in the new building but this will be retrofit.  We are going in buildings that are already here, so it will take a little time because we want to make sure we meet our needs but we feel it’s important.”

Ubben says best case scenario they work on projects in the summer but the security system can be improved during the school year because it’s not as intrusive as some of the other projects.

No word yet on exactly how much the project will cost.
