The Iowa Department of Education recently released Iowa School Report Card scores for the state’s school districts.
The report cards rank school districts on a variety of criteria, including attendance, college-readiness, overall proficiency and more.
Adair-Casey and Guthrie Center Superintendent Steve Smith says the report cards help to take over for a now-defunct federal program. “It kind of takes off where No Child Left Behind left off. They’ve cancelled that from the federal side of the government. The state has picked up the Iowa School Report Cards to help us look specifically at a lot of different categories and groups within our public schools. It gives us an opportunity to evaluate what we need to do from a school improvement effort.”
Smith will tell us more about the scores today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
