The Iowa Department of Education recently released Iowa School Report Card scores for the state’s school districts.
The report cards rank school districts on a variety of criteria, including attendance, college-readiness, overall proficiency and more.
Despite other superintendents criticizing the report cards for being based narrowly on the Iowa Assessment, Adair-Casey and Guthrie Center Superintendent Steve Smith says he appreciates the scores for the information they do present. “I guess I welcome the rankings and trying to look at why your scores or rankings are what they are. You should be able to do that, either with school improvement teams, staff or administrators to examine what the scores mean for your school.”
We’ll wrap up our conversation with Smith talking about the Iowa School Report Cards today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
