An annual event Saturday night in Dexter will raise money for the local American Legion.
The 13th Annual Chili Cook Off allows area cooks to enter a dish for five dollars and try their chance at a $100 grand prize or numerous other prizes. The public is invited to come in and enjoy all the chili they can eat for five dollars.
Organizer Kristy Lonsdale says some of the entries get incredibly creative, though all are delicious. “Sometimes we have some really unique entries. We’ve had emu meat chili, moose meat chili, chicken chili, seafood chili and others. One of the best parts of the night is just seeing what kinds of chili get brought in the door.”
Entries are due by 4 p.m., judging begins at 5 p.m. and the public is served at 6 p.m. at the Dexter Legion Hall.
Lonsdale will tell us more about the event today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
