The ADM Girls track team had a solid showing Monday night at the Iowa State Girls High School Classic.

Although the Lady Tigers were a little short staffed due to spring break activities, ADM still showed up strong with the help of strong performances from returning state qualifiers Sydnedy Bertman and Sami Schepers.

After earning a second place finish in the long jump at Wartburg, junior Sydney Bertman put up another top ten performance at the Lied center as she earned a 7th place finish jumping 15’6″. Bertman also notched 30th place finish out of a possible 121 in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.52 seconds.

Fellow returning state qualifier Sami Schepers took 26th out of 106 in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 10.28 seconds.

ADM’s relay squads found success on the track as well with three events placing inside the top 30 including the 4 x 800 meter relay team of Juergens, Klein, Engleman, and Hauff who took the 19th spot with a finishing time of 11:14. Also breaking the top 30 for the Lady Tigers would be shot putter Sadie Johnson with a finishing distance of 32’02”.

Despite not being at full strength girls head track coach Bart Mueller saw a lot of positives and saw a lot of opportunities for others to shine.

“We didn’t have a lot of girls because of spring break but even without full strength I thought we did well and for one it gave our freshmen a couple of opportunities to step up and show what they can do. I’m seeing some good things,” stated coach Mueller.

Up next for the Lady Tigers will be this Saturday as they head to Central College for their meet which starts at 10:00am.
