Both the ADM girls and boys soccer squads took home victories to start the month of May yesterday. Both are currently ranked within the top 6 in their respective class 2A rankings and both are tops in the Raccoon River Conference.

For the ADM boys soccer team yesterday neither wind, rain, or even a flooded Island Park could keep the class 2A 6th ranked Tigers from walking away victorious. Due to the flooding of Island Park field the Tigers and the Cubs were relocated to the ADM high school practice fields.

It was a very inauspicious start for the Tigers as ADM found themselves down 2-0 in the first half of play. The Tigers quickly turned it around in the second half however, and stormed back to take the lead and the 3-2 victory. Noah Bardwell played goal scorer on the night as he put up all three goals for the Tigers which brings his individual goal total to 15 on the season. Each of Bardwell’s three goals were set up by nicely executed passed from Herberito Ponce, Grant Gordon, and with seven minutes left in regulation, Daniel Finnegan set up Bardwell’s third goal to seal the deal for the Tigers. ADM is now 13-2 and unblemished in the Raccoon River Conference. Next up for the Tigers will be a RRC showdown between class 2A 6th ranked ADM and 11th ranked Winterset Thursday at Island Park beginning at 7:00 pm.

The ADM/Van Meter girls soccer team also battled the elements and a shortened field in Boon yesterday. The obstacles didn’t phase the Lady Tigers as the cruised to an 8-0 victory against the Lady Toreadors. Yesterday’s win puts ADM/Van Meter at 9-0 on the season and perfect in the Raccoon River Conference tieing them with the Winterset Huskies who are also perfect at 9-0. The Tigers and the Huskies will find themselves not only in a battle for the top spot in the RRC but also in a class 2A top 15 match up on Thursday. The 12th ranked Huskies and the 5th ranked Tigers will square off in Earlham Thursday starting at 7:00 pm.
