The ADM and Perry boys soccer teams were in action last night to decide the fate of the Raccoon River Conference crown at Dewey Field.

On the line was a three way tie for the conference crown should the Tigers win and the outright conference title should the Blue Jays win. It was a hard fought game on both sides but as the final seconds of the match ticked away, it was the Perry Blue Jays who took the win and the conference crown by the final score of 2-0.

The 2-0 score wasn’t truly indicative of all the action that took place between these high flying offenses. Both offenses kept the opposing goalies busy throughout the game as both goalies notched over 5 saves each on the night.

Perry’s David Cardenas was the only player to find the back of the net for either team. He did so twice in a multi scoring effort for the Blue Jays. Cardenas split two ADM defenders to break the scoreless deadlock with 1:04 left to go in the first half for his first goal. Cardenas didn’t wait too long into the second half for his next score tucking the ball in the back left corner of the net not one full minute into the second half.

Solid defense and good ball movement from both teams kept the ball away from the goalies for a significant portion of the second half although ADM did manage to find themselves down around the Perry goal plenty of times during the final 15 minutes of action but to no avail. The Blue Jays took the victory 2-0.

With the loss, the ADM boys soccer team falls to 13-4 on the season. Their next match up will be until next Monday as they welcome in Carlisle for their final regular season game of the year before substate action begins on May 23rd.

After the win and the Raccoon River Conference crown the Perry Blue Jays move to 10-2 on the season and will have 5 more matches remaining in the regular season. They will start the first of those five when they head to Carroll tomorrow night for a 7:00 pm match up.
