Voter FraudThe statewide primary election takes place in one week, and today we begin taking a look at the only contested race in Guthrie County, for the First District Supervisor Republican nomination, to run against Democratic incumbent Jerry Caraher, in November.

Jerri Christman is one of three candidates vying for the nomination and sees her familiarity with County government in her current role as Auditor to be a major advantage. “I’ve been working in Guthrie County government for almost nine years. I’m currently the Guthrie County Auditor, and I feel through this role I’ve gained extensive knowledge of how the County works, and I’ve worked closely with the Board of Supervisors, department heads and other elected officials.”

She adds she’s thought about running for Supervisor in the past. “I had thought about running for Supervisor, and constituents had asked me about running for the position. Earlier, no one had filed paperwork for my current position, and I believe citizens showed faith in me when electing me Auditor and I didn’t feel right leaving the office vacant. So, when somebody filed paperwork to run for Auditor, then I felt I was free to run for Supervisor.”

Christman will give other reasons for running and talk about what she feels are some major issues in the County today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
