Dallas-Co-Fair-LogoThe Dallas County Fair is officially underway.

Animals being shown by 4-H and FFA kids are still being checked in, a flag raising takes place at 5:30pm and the static exhibits and silent auction items will be available to view starting this evening.

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Marketing Coordinator Caitlyn Lamm says the fair is a favorite time for many 4-H’ers and Extension staff is there to help anyone who is considering joining a club.

“A lot of people don’t realize now that 4-H can start in kindergarten.  We have the Clover Kids, which is Kindergarten through third grade.  We’re having a Clover Kid day Thursday and all of the Dallas County Park and Recreation departments are coming together and holding an event for them.  So there’s going to be a pie eating contest, a bubble blowing contest, and if you have any questions about 4-H, staff will be on hand to answer those for you.”

The Clover Kids Day events begin at 3pm tomorrow at the fairgrounds in Adel.  Anyone wanting more information should stop by the Extension office.

The Raccoon Valley Radio Big Red Radio will be at the fairgrounds all week, broadcasting live and announcing results of the various competitions.
