The annual Greene County Rams football camp wrapped up last night on the high school grounds. Players going into high school had four days of camp while those in grades three through eight had three days. Head coach Dean Lansman and the middle school and high school coaching staffs conducted camp sessions.

The senior class of football players is expected to be smaller in number this year after a large class graduated from the 2015 squad that had a 4-5 record. One of the returning players is senior Chase Stoline, a defensive back/receiver/kick returner. Stoline was asked about the feeling of being the oldest class. “This is our team now. We kind of had to take control after the senior class (of 2016) was out, but the feeling is still weird of being the oldest.” Stoline talked about how fast the time has gone from his freshman year to today. “It feels like a long time ago, but then again, it feels like it’s gone by in the blink of an eye.”

Official practice for football and all the Iowa high school Fall sports begins on Monday, Aug. 8. Greene County’s first football game is at Carroll vs. Kuemper Catholic on Friday, Aug. 26.
